A verification code will be sent to the entered email, so make sure to use an email where you can check this code.
Once you enter the verification code sent to your email, your account creation will be completed.
Signing Up with a Phone Number for Bitget
Set the country code for the phone number you’ll use as your ID (for Korea, it’s +82), and fill in your phone number and the password you want to use.
Enter the verification code sent to your phone, and your account creation will be completed.
KYC Verification
KYC stands for “Know Your Customer,” created to verify the identities of users.
In cryptocurrency exchanges, KYC verification is a crucial element to prevent identity theft, account hijacking, and money laundering. It enhances the overall security of the exchange by verifying the identities of its users.
It’s crucial for exchanges to comply with regulations, enhance security, and build trust among users.
As the cryptocurrency market evolves, KYC verification remains an indispensable tool for maintaining the integrity of the market.
How to Do KYC Verification
KYC verification requires one of your identification documents (National ID, Driver’s License, or Passport) and asks for facial recognition verification (a selfie).
To undergo KYC verification, log in to your Bitget account and navigate to the Identity Verification page in account settings.
The steps for KYC verification are as follows:
- Set your country (Korea, South).
- Enter your first and last name as it appears on your ID.
- Choose the type of ID you will submit for KYC verification.
- Enter the registration number of your ID.
- Attach photos of the front and back of your ID, along with a selfie holding a paper with the date and “Bitget” written on it.
*KYC verification can be completed in as little as 10-20 minutes but may take up to 1-3 days.
Failing KYC Verification
There are mainly two reasons for failing KYC verification:
- Failing the verification test when entering your name in English. Make sure to enter your Korean name as it appears on the submitted ID.
- Failing the verification test if the required information is missing or only partially captured in the selfie. Additionally, taking photos in a dark environment can lead to difficulties in photo identification, so please be careful.
Security Settings
Surprisingly, many accounts on cryptocurrency exchanges are hacked due to a lack of security settings.
Bitget’s security settings are designed to prevent unauthorized withdrawals, protect users’ assets, and effectively counteract and defend against hacking.
We recommend setting up security measures for your account.
How to Set Up Security
Security settings are divided into three categories: email verification, phone number verification, and Google OTP verification.
While setting up all three is excellent, CoinInfo recommends using Google OTP verification for its simplicity and because it’s a security app provided by Google.
Here’s how to set up security with Google OTP:
- Search for Google OTP (Authenticator) in the App Store or Play Store and download it.
- Log in to Google OTP with your Google account, then press the “+” button at the bottom of the main screen.
- Choose “Scan QR code” between QR code scan and entering a setup key.
- Click on Google Authenticator in the Bitget security verification and scan the QR code.
Now, every time you log in, you must enter the verification code from Google OTP to access your account.
We recommend setting up email and phone number verification as well to ensure the safety of your account and assets.
